Q. How does the search function work in the prescanning and receiving?

A. To search, enter any word(s) of a title, ISBN, UPC, or EAN you want to search. This can include one or all words in a title. You can also include author or artist name as well. For example, to find the book “Of Mice and Men” you can type in “Mice Men”. To be more detailed and include the author’s name you can type in “Mice Men Steinbeck”. You do not have to type in exact titles, but the spelling does have to be correct.

To the right of the search box, you can set the parameters of your search. If you want to search every category, the software defaults to “All”. If you want to narrow your search to a specific category, click the drop down arrow and choose the category you want to search within. This is especially useful if you have a title that is listed under multiple categories (i.e. “Of Mice and Men” can be listed under a book, VHS, DVD, or CD.

To search for a DVD only and eliminate all book, VHS, and CD listings, choose the DVD category under the drop down menu and this will give you search results for a DVD only.) Click Search or press ‘Enter’ on the keyboard. This will bring up list of the top 10 search results.

For each item, it will show you what category it is listed under, the title as it is listed on the marketplace website, the lowest used listing price, the sales rank, total offers, and ASIN. This can help you narrow down your search results to determine if the item is what you are looking for or not.

If you find the item you want, double click on that item listing. This will bring you back to the “Details” tab. You can check to see if this is the exact listing. By clicking on the picture once, it will bring up the marketplace website where you can check more detailed specifications.

Q. How do I create an account to sell on Amazon?

A. First let's begin by creating an Amazon acount. Go to the link: You will notice at the top of the screen it says "Hello. Sign in to get personalized recommendations. New customer? Start here."

Click on the start here link. You will then be prompted to enter your email address and make sure the radio button is selected on "No, I am a new customer". Once you enter that information click on the "Sign in using our secure server" button. You are then asked to check your email account for a verification email. In that email it will provide you a link to click on. Click on that link and you will be brought back to Amazon's site.

This will be the last step in creating a new account. You will need to fill in your name (or name of your company) then create a password for your account.

Now it's time to set up your seller options. If you are using our Inventory Manager program you will need to be signed up as a Pro Merchant Seller. If you are manually listing your items you can get by using the Individual Account.

From the Main Amazon page you will notice on the right side there is a link for "Your Seller Account".


Click on the start selling professionally button.

On the next page, make sure the radio button "Use exsiting Amazon customer account" is selected.

Enter your email and password.

Now, you will enter your business account information. Fill out all the necessary blanks then click continue.

Next, you will be asked to enter your Credit Card Information. Your credit card helps to authenticate you for payment of your sales proceeds into your bank account. Your credit card may also be used to charge you for any outstanding Amazon fees. All sellers are required to enter a valid credit card during the registration process.

Once this has been completed, Amazon will ask you to verify you identfication by phone. Make sure you enter a number you can be reached at when you are filling out this form. It will provide you a pin to enter over the phone. Once that has been completed. Go back to the website.

After you click on continue, you will need to verify that all your information is correct, as well as add your bank routing information. Note that Amazon can only disburse your earnings into a bank account in a country and currency supported by Amazon. After you add or update your bank account information, for security purposes we may delay disbursement of funds for up to 14 days.

Congratulations you are now a registered Seller on Amazon.

For Individual Sellers

Search for the item you want to sell. When you've found an exact match, click the "Sell yours here" button on the right-hand side of that page. Note: there can be several editions or formats of the same item--make sure you have the correct one.*

You can also sell your item from's home page by clicking Sell Your Stuff on the navigation bar or from the Manage Inventory section of your Seller Account.

Describe the condition of your item. Select the condition and enter any comments regarding the condition item. For example, the book has a scratched cover or moderate highlighting.

Guidelines for setting the condition. Set your price and register to collect online payment from your buyer via Marketplace Payments by Amazon. Subject to our General Pricing Rule and any minimum or maximum pricing limitations we may establish from time to time, you are responsible for setting the prices of the products you choose to offer on, and should take into account all applicable costs (including fees and shipping rates) when listing and pricing your items.

Select shipping method. You can choose to ship orders to buyers yourself or use Amazon's fulfillment services to do ship for you. If you choose to do ship yourself, decide whether you want to offer expedited or international shipping. When you offer a certain shipping option, you can mail your order using any carrier and method, as long as the buyer receives their package within the time frame they chose. If you choose to have Amazon ship orders for you, your listings will be eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping, Prime, customer service, and returns. Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) fees will apply.

Confirm Review the information you have entered carefully to make sure that your listing will appear as want it to. Although you can edit certain fields in your Seller Account once your listing has been created, other fields, such as "condition," cannot be edited. If you want to change the condition, it will be necessary to close the current listing and create another.

Now you have to enter your account information to pay for the listing fees.

Credit Card Requirements

When registering to sell on Amazon Marketplace, sellers must provide with a valid credit card. You must have a U.S. or internationally chargeable credit card with a valid billing address in one of the seller registration countries accepted by Amazon.

We request credit card information primarily for identity and security reasons. By providing a credit card, you are also authorizing us to charge the card to settle your account in the event that the amount due exceeds your available balance.

The following credit cards are accepted during registration: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, or JCB. You may also use a debit card as long as it is connected with a major credit card company. We are not able to accept any alternate forms of payment (Gift Certificate, checks, etc.) for outstanding fees.

Please note: The credit card you have identified in your Seller Account must be valid in order for you to be paid for your sales. If for any reason it is invalid at the time we try to disburse funds to you, payment will be delayed until you update the credit card information in your Seller Account.

Changing Your Credit Card Information If you'd like to change the credit card used for Marketplace Payments, follow these steps:
  • Go to your Seller Account.
  • Under the Settings heading, click the "Seller Account Information" link.
  • In the Credit Card Information section, click the "Edit" button.
  • Select from an existing card in your account or enter all of the required information from a new credit card.
  • Click the "Submit" button.
  • Any outstanding negative balances for your current billing cycle will be charged to the new card.

If your card has expired or has been declined, you will be prompted to enter new credit card information before accessing your Seller Account and listings. From time to time, we may also check the validity of the cards sellers have provided. If the issuing bank is unable to authorize the card, we will prompt you for new information.

Enter valid bank account information for your Seller Account

If you need to enter your bank account information for the first time or update it later, you may do so via our website.

Please note that sellers with a UK, French, German, or Austrian bank account are able to sell on Marketplace and be paid electronically in their local currency (British Pounds for UK, Euros for France, Germany and Austria). For details about the specific banking information you will need to provide for banks located in the US, UK, France, Germany or Austria, see the section below on Required Bank Account Information. To enter new bank account information:
  • Go to your Seller Account and sign in when prompted.
  • Click the "Seller Account Information" link under the Settings heading.
  • In the Deposit Method section, click the "Add" or "Edit" button.
  • On the next page, the default for the Bank Location Country is United States. If your account is in another county, use the drop-down menu to select United Kingdom, France, Germany or Austria.
  • In order to be paid in British Pounds (UK) or Euros (France, Germany and Austria), please make sure that you read and accept the Amazon Currency ConverterTM for Sellers Terms and Conditions by checking the box in the Bank Account section.
  • Enter new banking information and click the "Submit" button.
  • All future Payments disbursements will be transferred to this new bank account. Please be aware that updating your bank account information will not affect past settlements or disbursements already being processed. If funds cannot be accepted into a closed account, they will be returned to Amazon and posted to your current balance in US Dollars (USD) for reprocessing.
